Dr. Rakesh Nandan Sahay has assumed charge as Director (Personnel) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, on February 9, 2026 (AN).

Dr. Sahay brings with him over 29 years of extensive experience in human resource management, with expertise spanning strategic HR, organizational development, industrial relations, and change management. His professional journey covers diverse sectors including power, mining, renewable energy, and research organizations.

Prior to joining RINL, Dr. Sahay held senior HR leadership positions at NTPC and its joint ventures with Indian Oil Corporation, Coal India Limited, and various State Governments. He has played a pivotal role in managing HR functions for large greenfield and brownfield projects, as well as in major project transitions and takeovers across thermal, hydro, gas, and mining sectors. His work also includes organizational integration, employee engagement initiatives, leadership development, and strengthening HR systems in national-level institutions.

An accomplished academic, Dr. Sahay is a Gold Medallist in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, and holds a PhD in Commerce and Management. He also possesses qualifications in Economics and Law, including LLB and LLM degrees, and has completed several leadership development programmes and professional certifications.

Dr. Sahay is a Life Member of the National HRD Network and the Administrative Staff College of India. A keen sports enthusiast, he has represented MECON, NTPC, Ranchi University, and Ranchi District in various prestigious cricket tournaments at the university, district, and PSU levels.

His career is marked by several national-level recognitions, including the AIMA Best Young Manager Award (2021) and AIMA National HR Quiz Winner (2005), along with numerous corporate honors and contributions to organizations recognized for employee branding and workplace excellence.

Dr. Sahay is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening human resource management and supporting RINL’s organizational objectives during this important phase of transition.
