A million years old,
fascinating Borra Caves, located about 90 kms. from Visakhapatnam, have
magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formations and are a fantasy in
limestone. Deep in the caves, a Sivalingam and an idol of a cow (Kamadhenu)
can be found. Tribals vehemently vouch for the religious significance of
the Borra Caves. Woven into intricate formations, the crystal white
calcium stones are seen in the various forms. The Borra caves are brightly
illuminated by mercury, sodium vapor and halogen lamps.
