TIPS :
-- To make toasts stay crisp and crunchy in toasted sandwiches, toast the slices on low
heat for a longer time.
-- To make perfect sanwiches, the bread should be soft, fresh and thinly sliced. Trim the
edges after preparing the sandwich for a neater look.
-- Always wrap and serve the sandwiches in a damp wrapper as they dry fast and the edges
tend to curl up.
-- French toast are easy to make and simple. Shallow fry them on a tawa or a pan on medium
heat and remove on absorbent paper.
FLAVORED SPREADS FOR SANDWICHES :
Spread the sandwiches with these flavoured toppings and place a cabbage or lettuce leaf
and slices of cheese, salami or ham.
GARLIC BUTTER :
4 tbsp salted butter (soft)
1 tbsp garlic paste
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander
1 tsp pepper
Mix all ingredients together.
MUSTARD BUTTER :
4 tbsp salted butter (soft)
11/2 tbsp mustard paste
1 tsp pepper
Mix all ingredients together.
HONEY CHEESE SPREAD :
3 tbsp salted butter (soft)
2 tbsp cheese spread (plain)
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp pepper
Mix all ingredients together.
CHEESE FRENCH TOASTS : (Serves two)
INGREDIENTS :
2 eggs
4 slices -- cut into triangles
4 tbsp grated cheese
2 tbsp cornflour
1 small onion chopped
1 chopped green chilli
2 tbsp fresh coriander
salt,pepper and chilli powder to taste
oil for shallow frying
Whisk the eggs and add cheese,
cornflour, onion, chilli, coriander, salt and pepper. Heat 2 tbs oil on a nonstick pan.
Trim the edges and cut the slices into triangles. Dip the slices in the egg
mixture on one side or spoon the egg mixture on one side. Heat oil. Drop the slices with
the mixture side down, into the hot oil. Cook till the egg mixture sets and turn the
slice. Fry the bottom side till brown and crisp. If you like it soft, You may coat the
mixture on both the sides of the bread. Repeat with all the other slices. Serve hot on a bed
of lettuce or cabbage leaves with tomato ketchup.
