Minister for Tourism Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said that the city would become sports hub in the coming days. Inaugurating the Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Open Tournament held at the Swarnabharati Indoor Stadium here on Saturday, he said that players from across the state were participating in the tournament, which concludes on Sunday.
He said that sports complexes would be set up in Chittoor, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam districts. He also mentioned that a sports complex would be set up in 150 acres in Aganampudi in the district. He said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers Cup (Football) will be held at Port Stadium in the city from October 14 to 16. He congratulated the organisations for hosting the tournament. MP M V V Satyanarayana urged the minister to conduct more sports events in the district. Japanese Chief Nagoura, Setwis CEO Srinivasa Rao, Surya Rao, Rotary Club President Bobjee, Secretary Sharma, former president of Rotary Club and Honey Group MD Oble Reddy, Sun Ray MD Raj Kamal Rajababu, Louis Philip Presidents Kantipudi Venkatrao and Varadara Reddy were present.
