Playgrounds to get a facelift:

Reliance Foundation launches nation-wide programme to distribute footballs

An action plan is being prepared to improve playgrounds and basic infrastructure for sports in rural areas, Collector and Chairman of the District Sports Authority N. Yuvaraj said here on Monday. He was speaking at a programme organised by the DSA to distribute footballs, sponsored by the Reliance Foundation to players from rural area. The foundation has launched the nation-wide programme of distributing footballs to give a fillip to the game in rural areas.

Sports associations, corporate houses and all others concerned would be involved to improve sports, Mr. Yuvaraj said. He asked Additional Joint Collector D. Venkata Reddy to convene a meeting on this issue. He wanted some schools in rural areas identified for different sports so that the corporate houses could be approached to provide infrastructure. The Collector assured that the District Administration would support all games.
