Empty stands take fizz away:

Sunrisers Hyderabad started its campaign at one of its home grounds, ACA-VDCA stadium, here on Thursday night against Rajasthan Royals in the Pepsi IPL-2015.

But, spectator response was lukewarm.

Instead of spectators descending on the stadium much before the first ball was bowled, the scene here was that more than half of the stadium was empty. When the first ball was bowled, it was just half filled.

High price of the lowest denomination ticket and examination season are the most likely causes for the scenario.

There were some people enjoying the match, a few them repeatedly clicking selfies. It rained last night. But a blazing sun during day time dispelled the fears of the organisers.

It usually takes at least 45 minutes to reach the stadium from the city on a day a match like this is held. But on Thursday, it was an uninterrupted drive. Those selling flags of the teams on the road leading to the stadium had few customers.
