Heritage Day is celebrated all over the World on 18th April and is all about raising awareness of the importance of protecting and preserving various sites around the world that have achieved world heritage status. As part of this World Heritage Day several events like Heritage Walk and Heritage Photo Exhibition are planned in Visakhapatnam over three days 15th, 17th and 18th April 2018.

Heritage Walk is being organised by Jayshree Hatangadi on 15-04-18 (Sunday), morning 6am to 9am , Heritage Walk of Old Vizag,and a visit to Bavikonda Buddhist Heritage site on the same evening at 4 pm sharp. Heritage enthusiast Jayshree Hatangadiwould narrate the history of the city and its heritage value. Several students and teachers of St, Johns School along with heritage enthusiasts from all over Vizag will be joining these walks.

Heritage Photo Exhibition is being organised by Visakha Camera Club on 17th April from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm & 18th April from 11 am to 7.30 pm at Visakha Museum. GVMC Commisioner, Shri Hari Narayanan will inaugurate the event.There are two exciting talks titled "Heritage Framed" by famous photographer B.K. Agarwal and "Vizags undersea heritage discovered" by diver-explorer Balaram Naidu. The purpose of this event is to build awareness among Vizagites about their fascinating heritage comprising ancient monuments, recent or old buildings that have heritage value, natural landscapes that are a gift of nature to Vizag city, flora and fauna, arts and crafts, traditional utensils, things used in childhood, festivals, cultural traditions and practices unique to Visakhapatnam area.

Professional and amateur photographers who wish to showcase their craft are invited to share photographs in print of size 12" X 15" either in colour or B&W. Each photographer can share a maximum of 5 prints. Selected photos will be displayed for the public to admire and participate in a quiz wherein they will have to answer a few questions about the photograph.

Photographers need to send their photographs to Agarwal Images, 2nd Floor, M.K. Enclave, Opp. St. Anthonys Church, Vizag - 530002, Ph.No:0891 2506060, with their names and contact numbers written clearly on the reverse. Last date for submission is 10th April 2018.
