The Music and Dance festival organized by VMDA at Kalabharathi presented the classical carnatic music Vocal recital by reputed artiste sri.Sanjay Subrahmaniam from Chennai. He was ably supported by sri.M.S.N.Murthy on Violin, Sri.M.L.N.Raju on mridangam and sri. Hanumantha Rao on Ghatam. Ctiy Police commissioner Sri. Purnachandra Rao, IPS, felicitated the artistes. Sri.C.S.N.Raju, founder President VMDA, sri.G.R.K.Prasad(Rambabu) Secretary, VMDA, sri. S.Vijay Kumar,CEO, VNC, were some of the members of the elite audience who appreciated the artistes wonderful and melodious performance.

To mark the completion of 108 Rudra Parayanams (chanting of 11 times namakam & 1 time chamakam in Each rudra parayanam),Ati Rudra Homam was performed by Sri Sathya Sai City Seva Samithi of Bhagawan sri sathya sai seva organisation, visakhapatnam district AT SRI SATHYA SAI VIDYA VIHAR school premises on 19th August, 2010.Rudra Parayanam was performed at 108 different places  in Visakhapatnam with the sole objective of seeking “Universal Harmony and Peace” in connection with the 85th Birthday celebrations of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The National Eminence Award function at Kalabharathi auditorium under the aegis of Visakha Music and Dance Academy on 14th August evening started on a bright note with the diving blessings of Satguru Sri Sivananda Murthy with Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Former President of India gracing the occassion to honour "Padmavibhushan", "Sangita Kalanidhi" sri. Umayalpuram.K. Sivaraman. Dr.Kalam inspired one and all through his speech in which he urged the younger generation to search for new horizons in all creative spheres of education. Sri. Sivaraman performed along with his students, Mr.Muralikrishna and Mr. Bharat sundar who is also accompanied on Ghatam by sri. E.M.Subramaniam.  Sri.C.S.N.Raju, founder President VMDA, sri.G.R.K.Prasad, Secretary VMDA were also present on the dais. The function was well coordinated by Dr. Prabhakar and smt. Prabhakar in the company of committee members of Sanatana Dharma Charitable Trust. NOTE BOOKS DISTRIBUTED TO NEEDY CHILDREN BY YOUTH”

With the divine blessings of Bhagawan Sri SATHYA SAI BABA, as part of “school children service” taken up by the youth division of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Visakhapatnam District, the Sathya Sai youth have distributed 28,000 note books (both white and ruled books), pen, eraser across vizag district to economically backward and also orphans studying in various Government schools and school for orphans.The above service activity was carried out by the youth as part of SCHOOL Children SERVICE” during the month of June.Several youth, devotees, members of various Samithis and Bhajana Mandalis of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation have actively participated in the above programme.The Students and school staff expressed happiness at the gesture of Sri Sathya Sai youth.

Andhra Music Academy

Andhra Music Academy will conduct its annual music festival commemorating saint composers of Indian music from 05th June to 09th June 2010 in the divine presence of Satguru Sri Sivananada Murty garu. The venue is Kalabharathi auditorium. The music festival is scheduled to commence every day at 5pm and veteran musicians representing Hindusthani as well as Karnatic Music styles will perform. The festival is open to all. On the auspicious occasion of 75th anniversary of Avatara Mahotsavam of sri Jayendra Saraswathi of sri Kanchi Koti Peetham. Music programme follows. .

‘UGADI CELEBRATED BY SRI SATHYA SAI SEVA ORGANISATIONS”

The Telugu NEW Year’s day UGADI was celebrated with joy and fervor at PREMA SADAN bhajan mandir located in Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar on 16th March, 2010. As part of the celebrations VEDAPATHANAM was performed by the children. Poetry was recited by children and elders. The Balvikas students enacted a drama “Interview with the God’ and another skit on Educare (Education based on Human values).

The students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar staged a drama ‘UGADI VELA (During Ugadi)’ highlighting the importance of various festivals of India, especially Ugadi. The school children also performed various dance forms of India in colourful dresses. They rendered Namasankirthana (Singing of Bhakans) on the occasion.

Later, RENOWNED SPIRITUAL Guru and Editor of Spiritual Magazine “MIHIRA”, Sri MRL Rao released the Ugadi special edition of “SAI SPANDANA” magazine. He also presented certificates to the 2nd batch of students who have completed free computer training.

In His Panchanga Sravanam, Sri MRL highlighted various issues during the Vikrutha Nama samvatsaram.The programme was organized under the aegis of Sri Sathya Sai City Samithi. S/Sri GKP Mukunda Rao, District President, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, DSN Murthy, Convener, Smt.A.Kausalya, Principal, Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, VR Nageswar Rao, Dist. The District Advisory Council, Visakhapatnam chapter of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams had celebrated in classic tradition the Bhishma Ekadashi at the Annamacharya Statue, R.K.Beach Road on 23/01/10. Sri. Vijarapurapu Sateesh Kumar, a medical Coordinator by profession has rendered Annamacharya compositions in adherence to the rich style they are set tune to. He was accompanied on violin by Sri. Chandramouli and on mridangam by Sri.Shankaram. Many prominent personalities to name a few like sri. G.R.K.Prasad(Rambabu), Secretary, DAC, sri.S.Vijay Kumar, CEO, Vijay Nirman Company, sri.Himamshu Prasad, Treasurer, DAC, sri.Jagat Rao have attended the programme. The artistes of the day were felicitated by sri.G.R.K. Prasad.

A Sadhana Camp was organised by the Railway Area Bhajan Mandali under the aegis of Sri Sathya Sai City Samithi at Railway Institute on Sunday.The Sadhana Camp is held by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation with a View to practice spiritual thinking and have control on desire and re-dedicate themselves towards extending service to the poor and needy.The day long Programme had many events and the day started with the Omkaram and Vedhapathanam by the devotees. Sri Mukunda Rao, District President,Sri Sathya Sai seva organisations started the programme by lighting the jyothi.Eminent Speakers spoke at length Bout various topics like The role of Bhajan Mandali in the Sri Sathya Seva Organisation,the important Human values in the educare pattern of educational institution and how to do service the mankind.The governing body members of Sri Sathya Sai Vidhya Vihar School were feliciated by the Railway Area Bhajana MandaliMembers for there significant contribution in the overall devolopment of the school for the past 25 years. A dance Ballet JANANI by the balvikas students enthralled the suidance. The dance drama was directed by the M S Prakash Rao, AP State cultural Programmes Co-ordinator, Sri Sathya Sai seva organisation.Sri VR Nageswar Rao, District Seva dal Inchage administered the oath by all members that they would follow noble path as advocated by Bhagavan Sri SathyA Saibaba. The annual music festival of saint composer Sadguru Sri. Tyagaraja has commenced at VMDA, Kalabharathi auditiorium on 04/01/10. Revered Sri Sri Sri Swaroopanandendra Maha Swamy of Sarada Peetham has inaugurated the festival. Kum. J.V.Srividya had rendered the prayer melodiously. ‘Sangita Kalanidhi’ sri. Nedunuri Krishnamurty, ‘Vidwan’ sri. I.V.L.Sastry, Secretary TAT, sri.G.R.K.Prasad, secretary VMDA, sri. Surapaneni Vijay Kumar, chief patron of vma, sri.A.Ramalinga sastry, sri.Susarla Gopala sastry, trustee VMDA, Dr. sonthi sarada poorna(USA), Dr. G. Indira, have also graced the occasion. The festival is scheduled from 04/01/10 to 08/01/10 with about 240 concerts and over 600 artistes performing the compositions of one of the greatest carnatic music composers as a mark of respect and reverence. The inaugural function also witnessed an excellent Bharatanatyam dance recital of smt. Divya devaguptapu (USA) who in the expert company of experienced orchestra comprising sri. Anish-vocal support, sri. Sunil bhaskar-violin and sri.jaya shankar-mridangam as team under the guidance of dance exponent ‘Padma Bhushan’ smt. Shanta dhananjayan presented selective Tyagaraja compositions and performed in a very original and aesthetic style.




Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu

Dwaram Venkataswamy NaiduDwaram Venkataswamy Naidu was born in November (Deepavali day), in Bangalore, India and was one of the most important Carnatic violinists of the 20th century.

Early life and background:
Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu was born in November (Deepavali day), in Bangalore, India and was raised in Visakhapatnam. He was appointed Professor of violin in the Maharaja's Music College in Vijayanagaram, at the young age of 26, and became its principal in 1936.

Performing career:
He was the first one to start the violin solo concerts. His first solo concert was given in Vellore in 1938. He played at the National Physical Laboratory auditorium, New Delhi in 1952, to raise funds for the Blind Relief Association. Yehudi Menuhin, a world renowned violinist, was greatly impressed when he heard Dwaram play at Justice P.V. Rajamannar's house.

He was known for his extremely well developed soft bowing technique combined with a firm fingering technique. He wrote several interesting articles on music, like an essay on the "Peculiar characteristics of the tambura".

He cautioned his disciples against missing practice even for a day. “If you don’t practice for one day, you will notice your mistakes, if you don’t practice for two days the audience would notice your mistakes!!”. He often used to say, "Music is an audible tapas."

Sri Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu Memorial Trust was established in Chennai. Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu Kalakshetram was established in Visakhapatnam. Statues of this great musician have been erected in Visakhapatnam and Chennai.

Some of the Awards:

  • Several luminaries like Pandit Nehru, Dr.V.Rajendra Prasad, Sarojini Naidu and several other towering personalities from various walks of life were his staunch fans.

  • Madras Music Academy presented him with Sangeetha Kalanidhi in 1941.He received Sangeet Natak Academi Award in Fine Arts in 1953.

  • ‘Padma Shree’ Award was conferred on him in 1957.

  • President of India has released a commemorative stamp on his Birth centenary in 1993.

  • Raja-Lakshmi Award for the year 1992 by Sri Raja-Lakshmi Foundation, Chennai was awarded to Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu Memorial Trust.
