It was a grant finale indeed in true colour rich taste and high quality performance at VMDA's concluding day's function on 12th August held at Kalabharathi auditorium. World renowned Indian classical music flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia was felicitated and presented the award "Nada Vidya Nidhi" by Satguru Sri.Sivananda Murthy garu as a token of appreciation towards his contribution for the cause of Music and culture. Sri. C.S.N. Raju, President, VMDA, Smt & Sri. Grandhi Manoj, proprietor Vaibhav Jewellers presented the Golden Lotus (Swarna Kamalam) to Panditji. Sangita Kalanidhi Sri. Nedunuri Krishnamurty, Sri. G.R.K. Prasad, Secretary, VMDA also graced the occasion. Kum. Y. Bhavana rendered invocation which was highly appreciated by one and all. Panditji specially lauded her presentation. What followed was a musical feast which filled the hearts and quenched the thirst of Vizagites. Pandit ji was at his best while communicating and reaching out to the audience through various ragas and he was ably accompanied by Sri. Vijay Ghate on Tabla, Pt. Bhavani on Pakhbaj, Sri.Sunil Avchat on Flute and Kum. K. Lahari on Tambura.

Day two witnessed the vocal recital by reputed musicians from Hyderabad Sri. Seshachari and Raghavachari (Hyderabad Brothers). They were ably accompanied on violin by Sri. D. Satyanaraya Rao, staff artist, AIR, Hyderabad and Sri. V.V. Ramanamurthy, staff artist, AIR, Vizag. Mr. D. Venkata Reddy, D.R.O. was the chief guest who also felicitated the artistes of the day. Day three witnessed the violin duo concert by the famous twins Kumaresh and Ganesh. Their electrifying performance was indeed a treat to music lovers.

Visakha Music and Dance Academy (VMDA) a premier institution and a hub for cultural activities in the city is organizing its annual series of music and dance concerts from 8th August, 2009 to 13th August, 2009 at Kalabharathi auditorium. The highlights of the mega event is presentation of National Eminent Artist award to Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, a world renowned flautist on 12th August, 2009. Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, former Speaker, Lok Sabha will be the chief guest of the day.

On the inaugural day Mr. Ajay Kallam, Chairman, VPT lighted the lamp and along with him Mr.Ajit Chandra Bothra, Director of Sarat Chatterjee Company, Mr. D.V. Subbarao, former Mayor, Sri .C.S.N. Raju, President VMDA. Mr.G.R.K.Prasad (Rambabu), Secretary VMDA and a galaxy of distinguished personalities have graced the function. There was a Kuchipudi Dance recital "Sivoham" jointly presented by the famed Kuchipudi Kalakshetram (Chennai) and its Vizag Chapter have thrilled the audience with their performance.
