Woman injured in acid attack dies:

Bunga Lakshmi (45), who was grievously injured in an acid attack on Thursday, died while undergoing treatment in the early hours of Friday at King George Hospital.

A native of Golugonda village, Visakhapatnam Agency area, she suffered over 80 per cent burns, when T. Arjun (52) of Lingampeta, a neighbouring village, poured a litre of sulphuric acid on her.

According to the police, the deceased, a widow and mother of three children, developed a relationship with the accused, after the death of her husband B. Somulu in 2008. The relationship was strained since last six months, and the accused developed a grudge and thereafter committed the crime.

According to the Narsipatnam ASP, Vishal Guni, the accused was arrested on Friday and booked under IPC Sections 326 (A), for acid attack, 302, for murder, and 354 (A), which is the newly constituted Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013.
