Gurupreet Kaur (22), who was caught by the CISF with a live 5.56 mm cartridge in her purse at the airport on Sunday, was sent in judicial remand for 14 days by the magistrate here on Monday.
Daughter of a naval employee, she had arrived in the city on August 15 from Pune, to try for a better job, and had been detained by the CISF before boarding the Indigo flight to Mumbai.
The cartridge had been found in her purse during the scanning of her baggage.
She was later handed over to the Fifth Town Police (Airport zone).
On questioning she revealed that the cartridge had been presented to her by a friend on the Friendship Day.
According to Fifth Town police station station head officer Tirumala Rao, there were some inconsistencies in her statement and they were investigating.
