Two workers died of asphyxiation when they entered a septic tank under construction at M. Kothapatnam in Rolugunta mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency, on Thursday.
Deceased identified
The deceased were identified as S. Appa Rao (55) and his relative S. Varahalu (25), both residents of Chettupalle area under Narsipatnam mandal in the district.
According to the police, Appa Rao, a mason by profession entered the septic tank for cleaning the debris and when he did not return, Varahalu entered it and did not come out.
Sensing danger, a worker, who was present over-ground, alerted the neighbours.
A couple of them entered the tank and found the duo in an unconscious state.
Sub-Inspector of Rolugunta Police Station, K. Venkata Rao, said that the two were shifted to the hospital but both died on the way.
The police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and investigation is on.
