The city police arrested two persons on Monday in connection with the murder of a 47-year-old man on Saturday evening at Pandrangi village.
The arrested were K. Krishna (45) and his wife K. Appalanarayanamma (40). The third accused K. Narayana (22), son of the accused couple, is still at large.
According to Ravi Babu, ACP, Madhurwada zone, the trio waylaid one S. Kanayya (47) on Saturday night at about 8 p.m. and smashed his head with a stone from behind killing him on the spot. Earlier, family members of the accused had an argument with the deceased over Kanayya lodging a complaint with the officials over Krishna and his family indulging in sand smuggling. In the night when, Kanayya was returning home after a drink at a wine shop in the village square, he was intercepted and after an argument, the trio beat him to death.
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s wife Sarika Arjunamma, the police investigated the case.
