Nine arrested in murder case:

Nine of the 12 accused in the murder of rowdy-sheeter T. Anil Kumar have been arrested. An autorickshaw, swords, and an iron rod have also been seized from them by the city police.

The accused were presented before the media on Thursday. Anil Kumar, who was involved in a double murder case in 2011, had rivalry with many persons regarding financial and other matters. Anil, along with his friends, went to the Fishing Harbour on May 8. He picked up a quarrel with T. Ramana and beat him up.

Later, Anil went to Allipuram and chatted with his friends till late in the night.

Kiran, Madhu, and T. Appala Raju, who nursed a grouse again Anil, reached the place and pulled him up for beating up Ramana.

While both the groups were engaged in an altercation, two persons armed with swords came and attacked Anil, while he was trying to flee. Some others, who were also armed, joined them. Anil was beaten on his head and on other parts of his body, resulting in his instantaneous death.

Giving details to the media here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (L & O) C.M. Trivikram Varma said that the accused were arrested at Nakkapalli, Anakapalle, and at Fishing Harbour jetty. The DCP said that a vain bid was made on Anil’s life at Bhupesh Nagar a month ago. Mr. Varma said that special teams were formed to nab the three accused who were on the run.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (East) R. Ramana and Two Town CI T. Kalyani were present.
