Mild tension prevailed after the parents of a fifth standard student protested against the school management for his death, at the school in Munchingput in the Agency area of Visakhapatnam, on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Y. Somaraju (12), a native of Kodiput village of Munchingput mandal and a student of government high school, Joliput village of Visakhapatnam Agency. He died allegedly due to severe stomach pain. According to Paderu ASP Shashi Kumar, the deceased went to his native village Kodiput to attend a function on Thursday and returned to the school on Friday morning.
Police said that the student had dinner at a function in the village and after reaching school he developed severe stomach pain on Friday morning.
Somaraju reportedly died while he was being shifted to a hospital by the school staff and fellow students, said the police.
However, the family members of the student staged a protest at the school, alleging that they were late in shifting their son to a hospital, which led to his death.
However, the police convinced them and brought the situation under control. The police have sent the body for post-mortem.
The ASP said that post-mortem will reveal the cause of the death. Meanwhile, a case has been registered for mysterious death by Munchingput police and investigation is on.
