A 14-year-old girl was found dead close to her home at Pendurthy under mysterious circumstances on Sunday. The girl left home on Saturday night after her mother admonished her for moving closely with a boy from their neighbourhood. The police found injuries on her body and her clothes torn indicating that she could have been raped and murdered.
The victim was studying 9th class at a private school. She had an argument with her parents over her boyfriend and left home in a fit of rage. Her parents and relatives searched for her in the area but failed to find her. They lodged a complaint with the Pendurthy police around 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Some passers-by noticed a body in the bushes close to their home around 7.30 a.m. and informed the family members, according to Pendurthy Inspector J. Murali.
Sniffer dogs led to the fourth floor of a nearby apartment complex. Clues Team members gathered evidence from the spot. The boy, with whom the victim allegedly had an affair, was living in the same apartment complex.
The police took the boy into custody for interrogation.
