Man held on land grab charge:

The PM Palem police arrested a person on land grab charge on Monday.
Based on a complaint filed by G. Bapineedu and nine others, the police arrested V. Nagendra Kumar on charges of trespassing and grabbing the land belonging to the complainants.
Inspector S. Appalaraju said that the complainant and nine others had purchased one acre of land at Kommadi under Survey Number II in 1984.
As per the link document, they were the fifth to purchase and own the land.
Subsequently, on December 7, 2014, Nagendra Kumar and about eight others allegedly trespassed into the land at midnight and occupied it by showing fraudulent documents.
A native of Nellore, Nagendra Kumar left his medical profession and moved to Visakhapatnam in 2008 and ventured into real estate business.
‘False documents’
Based on the complaint, we verified the documents and ascertained that Nagendra Kumar and others had prepared false documents to grab the land, Mr. Appalraju told The Hindu .
Nagendra Kumar has been arrested and hunt is on for the other accused.
Mr. Appalaraju said that the accused was earlier involved in five offences, including a few land grab cases, in Krishna, West Godavari, and Nellore districts.
CP’s directive
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Amit Garg, at a meeting recently, had instructed officers to deal with land grabbers with an iron hand. PM Palem is one of the areas where land grab cases are is on the rise. There are 70 cases pertaining to land issues at the PM Palem police station.
