City Task Force (CTF) arrested a lorry driver Landavaram for diverting kerosene meant from PDS and selling the stuff to local dealers and retailers.
According to CTF Inspector Ilyas Mohammed, the accused earlier served as driver of an oil tanker and during that period he befriended many other drivers. Later, he quit his job and in collusion with some other drivers was diverting the kerosene tankers and pilfering some quantity of kerosene. “After stocking a sizeable quantity, he was selling them to local dealers and retailers,” said Mr. Ilyas Mohammed.
The CTF also seized about 1,000 litres from Landagaruvu near Adavivaram.
The seized quantity and the accused were handed to over to the District Civil Supplies officials.
