Head constable assaulted:

A drunk driver, called up his sister and other kith and kin, and beat up a traffic head constable, when he was reprimanded for drunk driving.
The incident occurred late evening on Monday near Tagarpuvalasa junction.
According to the Bheemunipatnam police, one P. Chandu (19) was stopped by head constable Appalaraju near the junction for driving rashly and driving on the wrong side.
As he was drunk, the head constable asked him to take the breath analyser test. He tested positive.
The constable then seized his vehicle and asked him to pay the required fine and release the vehicle, as per the norms, DCP (Law and Order) Trivikram Varma told The Hindu. But the youth instead of accepting his mistake, entered into an argument with the constable and later went back home and brought a mob of over 30 people, which included his sister and other kith and kin, to the police outpost.
The mob then assaulted the head constable and damaged the outpost and police vehicle.
A law and order team had rushed to the spot to stop further damage and disbursed the mob. The head constable who was badly bruised admitted to a hospital for treatment, said the DCP.

The police have filed a case against eight persons, which included Chandu and his sister B. Adi Lakshmi, P. Ravi, I. Sunitha, I. Yellaji, P. Kondamma, I. Ramana and P. Keertana.
