The Vizag city saw four chain snatching incidents within the 5 kms radius on Thursday from 08:00 hrs to 08:45 hrs and ironically all the crimes were committed by two youngsters, leading to a call from city police officers to step up policing especially during morning hours.
In one of the incidents, G Hemalatha of Marripalem VUDA Layout was robbed of her 60 gms gold chain when two people on a bike followed her and snatched her snatched the chain. The incident took place when Hemalatha was dropping her children to school on her scooty. The two wearing helmet and hat followed her and snatched the chain when she reduces the speed of bike ahead of a speed breaker.
In another incident, a 25 gm gold chain was snatched from K Nirmala Kumari by the same gang at Shanthinagar area in the city.
The city police said of the four chain snatching incidents, three were reported under Airport Police station limits and one under Fourth Town Police station limits. Sources said two more chain snatchings took place in the city on Thursday but the police are yet to receive any complaint.
