APP assaulted on court premises
Additional Public Prosecutor and Deputy Director of Prosecution, K. Prudviraj, was assaulted and abused by four persons in his chamber in the court premises on Tuesday afternoon. Basing on a complaint filed by the APP, the Two Town Police arrested Doddi Rajani (40), Doddi Aruna (21), Batchu Pavan Kumar Reddy (22) and Batchu Prameela Reddy (42), on Wednesday morning. According to the Two Police Station Inspector, Mallikarjun Rao, one Pilli Shankar was arrested and sent to remand by the PM Palem Police in a rape case on March 10, this year. Subsequently, the kin of the victim and the accused decided for a compromise, as Shankar Rao accepted to marry the rape victim. To get the wedding going early , both families applied for a bail for the accused. But the APP asked for an adjournment of the plea, as the report from the prosecution side was yet to be filed. This upset both families. The four have been sent to judicial custody.
