Five held in two instances of land grabbing:

The city police arrested two persons on the charge of trespassing onto a land under Bheemunipatnam Police Station limits here on Tuesday.
The arrested were identified as Marupalli Rama Rao and his brother Marupalli Rajendar Prasad, both native of Bheemunipatnam.
DCP (Zone-I) C.M. Trivikram Varma said that realtors Nimala Pudi Veera Venkata Satyanarayana and Boppanna Veera Venkata Nagewara Rao had obtained general power of attorney (GPA) from eight families for a land measuring about 10 acres 76 cents in Somanapalem village under Kapuluppada panchayat in 1993.
They later divided the land into 170 plots and sold them to various persons under a real estate venture by name Viswa Sowjanya Real Estates.
Of the total 10 acres 76 cents, the realtors got the GPA for the extent of 5 acres 18 cents from the Marupalli family.
After obtaining the sale deeds, many of the purchasers had obtained bank loan and about 20 plots had been regularised by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority during 2004 and 2010.
As a few of them defaulted, the banks resold the plots to some other persons.
In 2013, Marupalli Rama Rao tried to trespass onto the land and a case was booked against him by the Bheemunipatnam police.
In 2015, after the death of some of the principal GPA executors, the duo, suppressing the facts of the ancestors and the old GPA, executed a fresh GPA illegally and trespassed onto the land.
Using a bulldozer, they levelled the land, destroyed the drainages and roads, constructed a new fencing around 5 acres 90 cents, and erected a new board claiming themselves as owners of the land. Having come to know of the development, a few land owners lodged a complaint.
“Upon investigation and verification of documents, we have arrested them and booked a case for criminal trespassing and land grabbing,” said Dr. Trivikram Varma.
In another case, the PM Palem police arrested Thanneru Uma Maheswara Rao, his wife T. Venkat Ramana, and Kondeti Rama Krishna on the charge of grabbing land measuring about 90 sq yds at Vikalangula Colony in Madhurawada on Tuesday.
The accused forcibly occupied the land that was allotted to Koppala Srinivas, a physically challenged person.
Dr. Trivikram Varma said that the beneficiary had gone missing in 1995. He was said to be still missing as per the records in the Two Town Police Station.
The accused obtained a forged GPA in 2012 and had occupied the land.
“How can one obtain a GPA when the person is missing,” the DCP wondered.
After obtaining the GPA, they started constructing a house. The issue had come to light when the mother of Srinivas lodged a complaint.

After verification, the accused were arrested.
