Eight persons were arrested on charge of grabbing land by the PM Palem police on Tuesday.
The arrested included P. Suresh (28), P. Sreenu (33), P. Chunti (28), P. Sreenu (29), P. Nageswara Rao (33), P. Sreenu (25), P. Govindraju (25), and P. Satyanarayana (24).
All of them belonged to one family and were residents of Chandrampalem in Madhurawada. According to SHO Appalaraju, in all, 22 members of a single family were involved in grabbing land to the extent of over 50 cents in the Chandrampalem area.
The land that was grabbed and sold once belonged to the family but was sold by their grandfather over 20 years ago.
The younger generation grabbed the land, fabricated documents, and sold the same to new persons.
Based on a complaint lodged by a buyer, we investigated the case and arrested eight of them.
The remaining are absconding and we have launched a manhunt for them, said Mr. Appalaraju.
