Cases booked against Payakaraopeta MLA:

Payakaraopeta MLA V. Anitha had two cases booked against her by the Payakaraopeta police.

The police on Sunday booked cases against her under IPC Sections 342, punishment for wrongful confinement, and 323, punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, for allegedly assaulting Rekapalli Rama Rao.

According to the police Mr. Rama Rao had lodged a complaint, stating that the MLA had called him to her office and assaulted him with the help of four other supporters. It is learnt that Rama Rao a teacher in a private school was called along with his principal and was threatened first and the MLA then slapped him with her chappal. Later four of her supporters, who were present, assaulted him. The incident reportedly happened on December 10, but came to light only after Rama Rao lodged a complaint and made the issue public, on Sunday. Earlier, on December 10, the MLA had filed a complaint against Rama Rao in the same police station and case was booked against the teacher under IPC Section 354 (A) for assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty. According to the sub-inspector of Payakaraopeta police station, the teacher’s complaint was a cross case against the case filed by the MLA earlier.

This is the third time in this year that the MLA had cases booked against her.

On August 3, the car in which she was travelling from Nakkapalli to Payakaraopeta, hit a motorcyclist from behind on the National Highway 16, near Uddandapuram. The motorcyclist was critically injured. On September 14, she stormed Payakaraopeta police station with her supporters and demanded the release of a man who was taken into custody by the police under charges of illegal sand mining.
