Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday arrested G. Rama Rao, assistant engineer of APEPDCL, Ravikamatham mandal, in Vizag while he was accepting the bribe of Rs. 10,000 through his private assistantt Ch.Siva for doing an official favour to a farmer.
The discom official allegedly demanded over Rs.20,000 bribe for laying LT line for a borewell in the farm of the complainant, who is a small farmer.
According to DSP ACB Kinjarapu Ramakrishna Prasad, the accused officer was caught while he was accepting the bribe through one Ch. Siva, who is working as a daily wage labourer with a contractor of APEPDCL.
The amount was recovered from the pocket of Siva. Both have been arrested and will be sent to ACB court on Wednesday.
