Nine persons were arrested by the city police on Wednesday on the charge of stealing Remote Radio Heads (RRHs), worth Rs. 1.3 crore. A car, 10 RRHs, 900 kg aluminium ingots were recovered from them.
V. Narendra Gopal (24) and his gang members -- E. Dora Babu, G. Satyanarayana, K Akhil and E. Karthik – stole 120 RRHs from the towers of Reliance Infocomm at Allipuram and some other areas in the city on April 26, this year, and sold the equipment to scrap dealers, according to DCP (crimes) T Ravi Kumar Murthy.
On a complaint by K Chakravathi, manager of Reliance Jio Infocomm, the crime wing police of Two Town Police Station investigated the case and apprehended Narendra Gopal and his team members besides four scrap traders for buying the stolen property.
The police are on the lookout for two more accused in the case.
