The Kancharapalem police arrested 10 members who were involved in a forcible land grabbing case on Monday.
About 25 members, armed with deadly weapons and in a riotous mood, went to a colony inhabited by members of Ganesh Rajaka Samikya Sangam (dhobi colony) near ASR Nagar under Kancharapalem police station limits in the wee hours of May 24.
They allegedly threatened the residents and misbehaved with women and asked them to vacate the colony.
Basing on a complaint filed by the residents, the police arrested Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Ganvalli Gopalkrishna, Bammidi Appala Naidu, Manju Kurma Rao, Chandragiri Srinu, Kadiyala Prasad, Karri Prakash, Garikina Suresh, Yelisetty Yoganandha Rao and Banreddi Chittibabu.
According to ACP (North Zone) Bheema Rao, the plan was hatched by Chandra Sekhara Reddy to grab the piece of land that was inhabited by washermen and he allegedly hired goons to forcibly evict them from the site.
