Railyatri Upbhokta Fortnight from 26.05.2015 to 09.06.2015 LONG-HAUL TRAINS RUN TO IMPROVE THROUGHPUT:

Besides handling the Iron ore, major contributor to the freight traffic, Waltair Division achieved freight loading in other articles of trade.
  • ·The Division achieved best ever Coal loading of 22.19 Million Tonnes during financial year 2014-15. The previous best was 16.88 Million tonnes achieved in the year 2011-12, registering a growth of 31.46%.
  • ·Best ever Bauxite loading of 1.78 Million Tonnes achieved during the year 2014-15. The previous best was 0.85 Million tonnes achieved in the corresponding period of 2011-12, registering an increase of 109.41%.
  • ·Best ever Caustic Soda loading of 0.60 Million Tonnes achieved during the year 2014-15. The previous best was 0.42 Million tonnes achieved in the corresponding period of 2012-13 registering a growth of 42.86%.
  • ·Best ever Alumina Powder loading of 2.36 Million Tonnes achieved during the financial year 2014-15. The previous best was 2.28 Million tonnes achieved in the year 2013-14 registering a growth of 3.51%.
  • ·Best ever Visakhapatnam Port loading of 19.28 Million Tonnes achieved during the year 2014-15. The previous best was 18.66 Million tonnes achieved in the corresponding period of 2012-13 with an increase of 3.32%.
  • ·Best ever Gangavaram Port loading of 12.47 Million Tonnes achieved during the year 2014-15. The previous best was 9.43 Million tonnes achieved in the year 2013-14 with an increase of 32.24%.
  • Best ever ‘DAY’ loading of 64 rakes / 3440 wagons achieved on 06-01-15 surpassing the previous best of 61 rakes / 3215 wagons on 29-02-12.
In 2014-15 the Division loaded the following new traffic:
a) 170 Alumina powder rakes transported from Utkal Alumina (HINDALCO) Siding Tikiri on Koraput – Rayagada line.
b) The Division loaded 15-rakes of Cement from Simhachalam.
c) Three Manganese Ore rakes from Visakhapatnam Port to M/s Simiore Siding in Hubli Division, Karnataka .
d) 44 Container rakes from Singapur Paper Mills,
e) M/s Adani Vizag Coal Terminal Pvt. Ltd. has commenced its operations and loaded 221 rakes.
f) Proposal for loading of Containers from Srungavarapu Kota.
g) Division loaded 39 Mango rakes during the period from Apr’14 to Jun’14 and earned Rs.10.06 Crore.

In order to reduce the detentions and to improve the throughput, the Division has run 1034 Long-haul trains during the year 2014-15.
