RINL registers Best Ever Hot Metal Production:

· Liquid Steel Production up by 14%

· Turnover grew by 3% at Rs 4726 crores

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant achieved a Best ever Hot Metal production (18% growth) in August, best for any month since inception, 14% growth in Liquid Steel and 19% in Gross Sinter production, best for any August since inception.

During April-August’14, improvements were registered in techno-economic parameters in Blast Furnace productivity (36 %), total fuel rate (2 %), specific energy consumption (1%), specific water consumption (6%) and Labour productivity (2%) compared to CPLY.

Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL mentioned that efforts are being made to ramp up the downstream units; and the production is expected to pick up progressively during the coming months. The production during the month to some extent got adversely impacted due to the incessant monsoon rains during the last week, affecting the raw material transportation and captive power generation, resulting in curtailed production.

Blast Furnace -1: The up-graded Blast Furnace-1(Godavari) has been under regular operation since blowing-in on 30th July’14 and has already reached 75% of its rated capacity by producing 5000 tons/day of Hot Metal within 25 days of its operations.

RINL achieved a turnover of Rs 1084 crores in August’14, the best in the current fiscal with a growth of 8% over the previous month of Rs 999 crores. With this, the cumulative turnover grew by 3% at Rs 4726 crores during 2014-15 up to August when compared to the CPLY of Rs 4571 crores.

Exports at Rs.192 crores is the best in the current fiscal with a growth of 160% over the corresponding period last year. With this, total exports during the current fiscal reached to Rs 385 crores against CPLY of Rs 139 crores.

The dispatch of 1,84,000 tonnes of steel by rail is also the best for any August since inception.
